create twenty five type posters using a phrase in your own words.
a short sentence or phrase is fine.
play with six typefaces simultaneously.

1 classical serif
1 classical san serif
1 modern serif
1 modern sans serif
2 wacky faces like nuthouse from emigre and your handwriting.

mix together on each of twenty five posters.

object is:
1) to learn about typefaces by researching them and choosing six to work with.
2) to learn how to mix very different faces in one composition
3) to utilize the basic rules of good design: scale change, spacial
relationships, dynamic energy, good typography including kerning, mixing image with type, etc
4) to have fun

you may use image and texture.
don't do so to the exclusion of the typography.
make one poster, save as, change, save as, change, save as, change, etc.

pick your best twenty five.
print 8.5" x 11" in color if you're working in color.
don't tell me they look better on the screen.
print is meant to look good in PRINT!

bring to class.

put on the wall in groups by person.
you may need to bring tape to hang these.
